Smart Splitter

XTBA's SMART SPLITTER is designed to make the distribution of DMX512 data easy and trouble free. Available in 19" rack mount and rig box for hanging on a truss. The DMX512 input data is optically isolated from the output section, which divides the data into five separate buffered outputs. This allows DMX to be sent to any point without the need to "daisy chain" through all the receivers and thus simplifies cable runs and data distribution. DMX data is also looped through to an additional output so in the event of a power failure to the unit data will still be passed through. The Smart Splitter also auto-terminates the DMX line. Also available as a rig-mountable version.

Smart Splitter View

XTBA's SMART SPLITTER VIEW is a one in five out (with loop through) data splitter. Available in single isolation version as in the Smart Splitter or as a fully isolated version as in the Smart Splitter 5i.

In addition to being the splitter the Smart Splitter View can show (via an easy to read display) the received channel levels and data parameters allowing for easy fault finding and checking of data. In receive mode the viewed channels can be scrolled left and right and displayed in decimal or percent.

The Parameter menu will display: break time, mark time, start code, number of dimmers, system OK. If the View detects any error the 'system OK' will change to error and the data led will flash.

The unit can also be set to transmit any number of individual DMX channels and their levels altered from the front panel buttons. This can be useful for rig testing and system setups.

The unit can also be set to retime DMX. Incoming DMX is stored and a new DMX created for the output. The transmitted DMX has three speeds so hopefully one of the three will allow non communicating DMX systems to talk to each other.

The user options menu allows the View to be set for decimal or percent. Hold or lose last frame on data loss. In this mode The Smart Splitter View will remember the last valid frame of DMX and (if enabled) will transmit this on the data loss. Option to turn off the display after five minutes, the display is turned back on by pressing any of the three keys. Store or lose the options on power down. The View units also have an input relay override so data will pass through if the unit is off.

The 5i version will also monitor line termination on each of it’s outputs. Indicating if the line is terminated, double terminated or over loaded with or without live data.

Smart Splitter Rig Mount View

XTBA’s SMART SPLITTER VIEW packaged for on the road use in metal case for hanging in the rig. Why take a DMX tester up into the truss when this splitter has all the testing facilities you need? Comes with bolt fitted for hanging. The specification is the same as the Smart Splitter View.

Smart Splitter 5i

XTBA's SMART SPLITTER 5i offers five fully optically isolated and buffered outputs, with over voltage data line protection. The data loop-through is fully terminated and the data loop out is a retransmitted copy of the input with relay overide, so data will pass through in the event of power failure. NEW - Also available with XTBA's VIEW technology.

Smart Splitter 10i

The XTBA Smart Splitter 10i is a one in ten out, fully optically isolated and buffered data splitter with over voltage and data line protection on the outputs. The data input is fully terminated and the data loop through is a re- transmitted copy of the input with a relay override, so data will pass through in the event of power failure.

After nine years the XTBA Very Smart Splitter has been retired from production. Introduced in 1997 its unique line checking system is not lost however as it is now to be found built into the Smart Splitter View.
So in addition to monitoring line termination the Smart Splitter View can display incoming DMX channels, check DMX parameters, transmit DMX for testing, hold the last good data frame (if enabled) and also retime DMX for non communicating DMX systems.

We will still keep spares for the Very Smart Splitter in the unlikely event a unit falls over (hasn’t happened in the last seven years) and can still build the old unit for special order.

Single Splitter Module

XTBA’s SINGLE SPLITTER unit is packaged with a 240v power supply for on the road or “hang it in the rig use”. This has an XLR input, a DMX through XLR and an XLR for the optically isolated and buffered output. LED's for power and data.
